Finance the construction of photovoltaic self-consumption installations in France
After the success of financing its first portfolio this year, the company Zilo Energie is continuing its collaboration with Total Energies Invest and the deployment of its turnkey rooftop photovoltaic installations with the launch of a second portfolio.
Zilo Energie offers a solar self-consumption subscription service that can be combined with a battery and a control offer. The company provides a solution without any financial contribution for individuals and professionals, handling all aspects of the project and its long-term monitoring (study, financing, installation, monitoring, and optimization). This innovative business model directly contributes to the energy transition by making photovoltaic energy more accessible to the general public , enabling savings from the first year (through strict project selection upstream) without relying on public funding.
For this new portfolio, the company is offering an investment in simple bonds issued by a new vehicle, Zilo Energie Verte II, which holds the second portfolio of self-consumption installations deployed by Zilo Energie. As part of this first tranche, it aims to raise €1,000,000 at an 8% rate over two and a half years, with the possibility of increasing the amount to €1,500,000.
The offer
Finance the construction of self-consumption photovoltaic installations in France
Zilo Energie offers an investment opportunity in financing a program of solar self-consumption installations across France , which can be combined with a battery and a control system to maximize self-consumption.
Following the success of a first SPV that has already enabled the installation of 320 plants with a capacity of 2.1 MWp (out of a target of 3 MWp, with the remainder under development), you will directly continue the deployment of new production capacities: this financing envelope of up to €5 million on Total Energies Invest will finance over 400 new installations (with a capacity of around 3.1 MWp) . This deployment is part of a broader strategy for this second SPV, which aims to eventually commission 900 plants with a total capacity of 7 MWp .
OBJECTIVE
The crowdfunding operation for the Zilo Energie Accélération project aims to raise €5,000,000 in several tranches as installations are deployed . For this first tranche, the company seeks to raise €1,000,000 through simple bonds with an annual interest rate of 8% over 2.5 years , with the possibility of increasing this amount to €1,500,000.
USE OF FUNDS
The funds raised in this first tranche will be used by the project sponsor to install new plants: they will cover the costs of installing the plants, as well as development fees .
REPAYMENT
The repayment of the bonds will be carried out through long-term refinancing that Zilo Energie will secure from a bank or a specialized infrastructure investment fund once the installations are deployed.
#### SECURITY
A 100% pledge on all shares of Zilo Energie Verte II , the SPV owning the projects, has been established to secure investors. The company Covalt , a specialist in security enforcement, acts as an agent to regularly verify the issuer’s obligations, ensuring control over the use of funds , incoming and outgoing cash flows throughout the financing period, review of the borrower’s financial statements and ratios , and enhancing the effectiveness of the pledge .

The project
A fast-growing company
Founded in 2023 , Zilo Énergie offers an innovative model that makes solar self-consumption energy accessible to everyone . To achieve this, it provides a subscription-based solution inspired by existing models in the United States and Germany, enabling customers to reduce their electricity bills from the first year. With over 500 contracts signed across France , it has already installed 322 solar plants since its creation, with a total capacity of 2,152 kWp.
Since 2024, the company has experienced significant growth in its operations:
This fundraising will enable Zilo Énergie to continue deploying its model, which aims to give customers access to photovoltaic energy produced on their rooftops, as well as a storage and management service to optimize equipment through a monthly subscription with no upfront installation costs . These significant costs can indeed deter some households that could otherwise benefit from such a project. The subscription amount is designed to provide customers with a positive return on investment from the first year.
Zilo Énergie’s missions are as follows:
- Assessing project profitability – Zilo Énergie only deploys plants if they are profitable for both the customer and the company.
- Conducting technical feasibility studies for installations.
- Sizing plants based on the customer’s electricity consumption.
- Fully financing installations and charging customers a monthly subscription , giving them simple and immediate access to solar energy.
- Managing control, monitoring, customer service, and maintenance of installations throughout the subscription period.
Zilo Énergie takes charge of the entire process , from technical studies and financing to installation and maintenance of the plants.
Installation and maintenance are handled by a network of around ten national and regional partner installers covering the whole of France. Zilo Énergie also ensures monitoring of installations and acts as a coordinator if needed throughout the customer’s contract period.
You can see the company’s latest projects in the images below or in video format:

A comprehensive subscription model
To generate more value and maximize the self-consumption share of the installation, Zilo Énergie offers several subscription types to customers based on their volume and nature of needs .
- The “Access” offer includes only solar panels, allowing daytime consumption of the energy produced. This is the original offer that makes up the majority of the initial portfolio.
- The “Maison Zilo Énergie” offer also includes an electricity storage module with batteries, enabling consumption outside production hours, enhancing grid flexibility, and optimizing equipment through control.
- Finally, the most comprehensive offer includes an electric vehicle charging point with controllable charging.
The recent drop in electricity buyback tariffs for small photovoltaic installations has significantly impacted their profitability for individuals. In this new context, Zilo Énergie believes that profitability now depends on a high level of self-consumption and optimized storage value .
To address this structural market shift, the company is accelerating the deployment of its integrated “Maison Zilo Énergie” offer . This solution combines the installation of photovoltaic panels with battery storage systems and intelligent control of the household’s energy consumption via a proprietary algorithm.
The joint optimization of production, storage, and electricity usage maximizes self-consumption and, consequently, the profitability of installations for the end customer . The continuously improving algorithm aims to integrate an increasing number of parameters (consumption profiles, production forecasts, price signals, etc.) to refine this optimization further.

Project owners
Zilo Energy was founded in 2023 by Chloé Roubach, Philippine Roy and Florian Guinet, three entrepreneurs with complementary backgrounds and expertise, committed to the energy transition and convinced of the need to offer accessible solutions to the general public.
Zilo Energy relies on a network of partner installers to ensure optimal installation and rigorous monitoring, thus guaranteeing the performance and durability of the equipment.
With over 400 power plants installed or in the process of being deployed , Zilo Energy aims to become a key player in the French photovoltaic self-consumption market. With a rapidly growing network, the company already has over 40 installers in its pipeline, representing as many potential B2B and B2C partnerships that can be deployed in the coming months.
Our analysis
Risk overview
Commercialization risk
Risk related to the commercialization of a new offering
Mitigation methods
The company relies on a team of qualified sales staff, whose main selling point is that there is no upfront investment required from the customer—a rare advantage in the retail solar market.
Refinancing risk
Credit risk related to the company's ability to refinance and meet its debt obligations.
Mitigation methods
The deployment of the first SPV, Zilo Energie Verte, is well underway. Discussions regarding equity or project debt financing are currently underway with institutional investors. The SPVs’ business plans project a comfortable debt service ratio, which should facilitate the securing of such refinancing.
