Finance the deployment of 200 solar energy storage projects in France
The Ensol Abonnement Sud project, developed by the Ensol group , involves the deployment of rooftop photovoltaic installations and battery storage solutions with an innovative subscription model , allowing individuals to benefit from a photovoltaic installation without an upfront payment and with a turnkey service . Through this approach, Ensol removes the financing barrier , thereby accelerating solar adoption and actively contributing to the energy transition .
Committed to Total Energies Invest in a global financing round that could reach up to 5 million euros, the company has already raised a first and a second tranche, amounting to €750,000 and €1,000,000 respectively, enabling the financing of nearly 300 residential self-consumption projects. Building on these early successes, it is now launching a third tranche of €1,000,000 in simple bonds, offering an 8% interest rate over 17 months .
This new fundraising will accelerate the deployment of Ensol’s battery subscription offering and its nationwide scaling . The funds raised will finance nearly 200 new residential battery installations . This third round marks a milestone: it is fully dedicated to the deployment of battery storage solutions , reflecting Ensol’s strategic shift and the now essential market reality.
For the duration of the financing, Total Energies Invest has chosen to entrust a monitoring mission to a specialized third-party company, Pono Technologies. This structure will enhance fund usage control, secure the pledge, and strengthen investor protection.
The offer
Founded in 2023, Ensol is a French company specializing in rooftop photovoltaics and storage solutions for individuals and small businesses . The company is now seeking to raise funds through Ensol Abonnement Sud, a dedicated entity for the construction and ownership of photovoltaic power plants and storage solutions (batteries) for self-consumption.
OBJECTIVE
The crowdfunding operation by Ensol aims to raise up to €5,000,000 in several tranches through simple bonds. For this third tranche, it seeks to collect €1,000,000 with an 8% interest rate over 17 months .
USE OF FUNDS
The raised funds will cover part of the costs related to the installation of battery storage solutions , including the cost of batteries, inverters, and associated equipment , installation and commissioning , as well as management and operational expenses of the project company.
The projects financed by Ensol Abonnement Sud will primarily be located in the Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine regions .
REPAYMENT
The repayment of the bonds will be carried out through long-term refinancing that Ensol must secure from a bank or a specialized infrastructure investment fund. Ensol has already initiated discussions with several potential lenders.
SECURITY
A 100% pledge on the shares of Ensol Abonnement Sud has been established to secure investors. The company Covalt (formerly Pono Technologies), a specialist in security applications, will act as an agent to regularly verify the issuer’s obligations, ensuring control over the use of funds , incoming and outgoing cash flows during the financing period, review of the borrower’s financial statements , and financial ratios , as well as enhancing the effectiveness of the pledge .

The project
Heading towards storage
Ensol’s offering, particularly through the integration of storage systems, aligns with a favorable market trend towards self-consumption where access without an initial investment is key to democratization for individuals. Indeed, while the market for photovoltaic installations is now well-established and has seen sustained growth in recent years, residential battery storage remains at an early stage of development, despite significant potential.
Storage solutions play a crucial role in France’s energy transition and electrification strategy: they allow renewable electricity produced during the day to be utilized, avoiding losses, reduce dependence on fossil fuels during evening consumption peaks, and support the growing electrification of household uses. By contributing to the flexibility and stability of the electricity grid, they are an essential condition for the success of the energy transition.
This fundraising will enable the deployment of over 200 storage installations for individuals, following an innovative monthly subscription model . This model aims to give customers access to photovoltaic energy produced on their rooftops or stored at home without bearing the initial installation costs , with a comprehensive vision of the electrified home of tomorrow.
Storage batteries: an increasingly popular solution
The market confirms the new trend of households with solar panels turning to batteries.
The number of batteries installed per 100 new photovoltaic installations in France has tripled since the announcement of the end of subsidies, reaching around 15 batteries per 100 installations. The trend is structural: in Germany, this ratio exceeds 80%, as in Italy or California. France is simply catching up quickly.
Ensol’s solution: battery subscription, no upfront investment
In this context, Ensol offers a simple and accessible solution for all households with photovoltaic panels, based on three pillars:
- Full financing : Ensol finances the acquisition and installation of the battery, removing the main barrier to adoption—a high upfront cost still perceived as prohibitive by most households.
- Smart management : Ensol’s proprietary application controls the battery in real time to maximize solar self-consumption and allow households to contribute to balancing the electricity grid.
- Maintenance included : throughout the contract period, Ensol provides monitoring, maintenance, and potential battery replacement. The customer bears no technical risk.
With this offer, households with solar panels can achieve up to 90% energy autonomy for their daily needs.

Project owners
Ensol was founded in 2023 by Paul de Preville and Martin d’Hoffschmitt. The company specializes in installing energy equipment for individuals: solar panels, heat pumps, batteries, charging stations, and control applications.
Ensol is a team of 65 employees and currently manages a capacity of 7 MWc of solar production and 5 MWh of storage, distributed across more than 1,500 solar installations. The company plans to equip 160,000 households with photovoltaic panels by 2030, equivalent to 30,000 homes equipped annually.
Ensol’s main mission is to enable as many people as possible to produce and self-consume their electricity from photovoltaic installations and battery storage solutions, thereby reducing dependence on energy suppliers and price fluctuations.
The company offers its customers a turnkey solution, handling all administrative procedures from project study to installation and maintenance.
Ensol’s activities include, among others:
- Feasibility and profitability studies: each project is tailored based on the customer’s consumption and energy profile to optimize the investment.
- Design and financing: Ensol fully finances the installations, eliminating the barrier of the initial investment for individuals.
- Installation and maintenance: through a network of certified installers, Ensol ensures high-quality installation and continuous performance monitoring.
- Subscription management and monitoring: Ensol centralizes billing, energy optimization, and customer service to provide a seamless and hassle-free experience for users.
Ensol positions itself as an integrated player across the entire value chain, offering a recurring and incremental revenue model.
In 2025, the company achieved a turnover of 7 million euros (+67% compared to 2024). This growth was driven by a 35% increase in the average basket, fueled by the rising sales of batteries. Ensol plans to double its turnover in 2026, driven by the recovery of the photovoltaic market and the adoption of storage solutions.
Our analysis
Risk overview
Commercialization risk
Risk related to the commercialization of a new offering
Mitigation methods
Ensol has a large team dedicated to marketing its offering and relies on a multi-channel strategy. Ensol is focusing on opening up the Occitanie and Nouvelle Aquitaine regions to bring in new projects and deploy them in line with the objectives of the business plan.
Construction risks
Risk of construction delays or failure to complete the work
Mitigation methods
Ensol relies on a team and network of experienced installers who have already successfully built more than 1000 power plants on its behalf. The installations are small in size and do not present any particular technical or administrative complexities.
Counterparty risk
Risk of subscription payment defaults that could compromise the project's revenue and its ability to service the debt.
Mitigation methods
The end customer portfolio will be highly granular (over 600 installations) and will greatly diversify counterparty risk. Ensol uses a credit rating system and engages a debt collection agency in the event of non-payment.
Refinancing risk
Credit risk related to the company's ability to refinance and meet its debt obligations.
Mitigation methods
The structure of the operation (regular, predictable and highly granular cash flows over a long period) is attractive for obtaining refinancing. The company is in contact with several banks and investment funds specialising in infrastructure to obtain longer-term financing.
